Job Title: Assistant Editor
Educational Requirements: Bachelor's degree in English, journalism
or related field.
Basic Qualifications:
-
A minimum of three years of related professional work experience.
-
Technical communications skills, including writing and editing. Knowledge
of English usage, grammar and publication writing style.
-
Ability to edit technical life sciences manuscripts, as well as familiarity
with agricultural, natural resource, life and/or natural sciences.
-
Ability to write college promotional copy for brochures, posters, etc.
-
Ability to work with a variety of clients, co-workers and projects.
-
Ability to advise and work with clients and other departmental staff members
on publication design and production specifications.
-
Ability to maintain orderly work flow in conjunction with other staff members.
-
Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
-
Understanding of basic design concepts and prepress procedures.
-
Proficiency with Word processing programs a must, web and graphic design
software skills experience a plus.
-
Spanish-language skills a plus.
Responsibilities
-
Maintain consistent, professional image and writing style in printed materials.
-
Edit and proofread scientific articles and bulletins, how-to publications,
promotional materials, and news copy
-
Serve as final editor of college periodicals.

Serve as primary proofreader for various college print materials and college
Web site content.
-
Develop content (write) for a variety of college materials, such as brochures,
posters and Web pages, etc.
