In This Issue:
1. How to be helpful with very little effort: be a session monitor in Traverse City!
The ACE 08 program committee still needs session monitors at the Traverse City conference. Monitors announce the session and presenters, hand out and pick up evaluation forms, and help with time keeping. If you're attending a session anyway, it's easy enough to introduce the speaker, pass out and collect forms, and keep track of time. Please e-mail Gloria Holcomb at gloria@ksu.edu if you can help.
2. ACE editing workshop is full!
"Instruction for Those Who Make Others Look Good" is filled and has a waiting list. This would appear to mean that this workshop, which is being cosponsored by the Writing SIG, is meeting a real need for many ACE members. Many thanks to all of you who participated in the professional development discussions last year that led to the development of this workshop, and especially to my colleagues on the workshop planning committee: great job, PubSIG!
3. Don't miss the PubSIG business meeting in Traverse City (Wednesday 1:15 to 2:45).
This meeting can't be effective without you, the SIG members! A sneak preview of the agenda is below. Highlights include

5. The changing of the PubSIG guard
Okay, so we didn't get to wear spiffy red uniforms and giant bearskin hats, but Kevin, Sandy, and I have had fun being PubSIG leaders. I couldn't have asked for two better coleaders! As Kevin will be assuming the role of chair at the our PubSIG business meeting in Traverse City, this newsletter is pretty much my last formal action as chair. I continue to be impressed by the energy and talent among our membership. Some great surveys were initiated on the listserv, and have been added to our Web site (http://www.aceweb.org/sigs/publishing/index.html):
Kevin got the Case Studies resource going. And we organized what promises to be a very successful editing workshop. Serving as a PubSIG leader for three years has been a privilege and a learning experience. Thank you!
Kyle, on behalf of your PubSIG leaders,
Kyle McCaskill, Chair
Kevin Leigh Smith, Vice Chair
Sandra Clarke, Vice Chair-Elect
Joy Neumann Landis, incoming Vice Chair-Elect
