May 2001 ACE Pub SIG Newsletter

Greetings Publishing SIG!!!

I want to apologize for not getting a newsletter out to our SIG sooner. Over the last several months, our Extension Communications staff has been in the midst of a transition at Colorado State. As of July 1, our communications staff will be merged into the University Relations office at Colorado State University. I don't know if any of you have this structure at your universities but this was done to centralize functions within the University and make the units more efficient and save money. Now, rather than have control over their own communications staff, Extension will go to each unit (media, publishing, etc.) and ask for support for various services (media relations, publishing, etc.) Interesting......and very time consuming.

2001 ACE/NETC Conference: Toronto, July 28-August 1

Business Meeting

As most of you know, the Toronto meeting is approaching. Our business meeting will be on Sunday, July 29th from 1:30 to 3. As with past years, we have asked for a longer SIG session in order to provide our members with time to interact with each other and find out what each other is doing. To plan this session, I would like to call on the help of any members, as well as officers and regional reps. I will schedule a conference call for the end of May or early June. If you can help us plan this session, please let me know as soon as possible and I will set up a time for the call. One of the items we might consider talking about is an update on e-commerce. Many of us are either there or planning in it and we could benefit from anyone experience in this area.

If any of you have any ideas or areas you'd like to discuss in our session, please forward those to me.
