For information, contact Kyle
McCaskill,
Chair, PubSIG.
In This Issue:
1. Joy Landis of Michigan State University joins the Publishing SIG leadership
It's official . . . and even unanimous: Joy Landis will join the PubSIG leadership team as vice chair-elect effective this June. Joy will assume her duties at the Traverse City conference, when Kevin Leigh Smith will move into the chair position and Sandra Clarke will take over as vice chair.
Thanks to all of you who voted. It's great to see members staying involved with the SIG!
2. I'm a seasoned editor: why would I need a workshop?
Do you know where to draw the line between basic copyediting, structural copyediting, and substantive editing? Would you like to learn more about editing for specific audiences, such as low-literacy, tech-savvy, and culturally diverse audiences? Do you want to stay on top of changes in language use and editing? This full-day preconference workshop--scheduled for June 9 at the Holiday Inn West Bay in Traverse City--will help you brush up on basic copyediting skills, and then allow you to roll up your sleeves and dig into more complicated editorial challenges. (And there will be DOOR PRIZES!)
We are happy to announce that the Writing SIG has joined the PubSIG in sponsoring this event. Register soon on the ACE '08 Web site: the workshop is limited to 40 participants to ensure a "hands-on" and productive day of learning.
