1. PubSIG Elects Sandra Clarke as Incoming Vice Chair-elect

The PubSIG election for vice chair-elect is complete and Sandra Clarke (Iowa) is our new vice chair-elect. She will join Chair Kyle McCaskill (Maine) and Vice Chair Kevin Smith (Indiana) as your PubSIG officers for the new year. Thanks to all of you who voted--thirty-five votes were cast.

2. Registration Now Open for ACE Annual Meeting

Registration is now available for “The Double Creature Feature” at http://acenetc2007.nmsu.edu/reginfo.html. There is also a schedule grid at http://acenetc2007.nmsu.edu/schedule.html to help keep it all straight while selecting training, breakout, poster, and showcase sessions to get the most out of each day. Please note that the PubSIG session is 8:45 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. on Monday, June 18.

To make hotel reservations, call the Embassy Suites in Albuquerque at (595) 245-7100 and ask for the ACE/NETC 2007 Hotel Room Block to get the $99 rate, or go to the conference Web site at http://acenetc2007.nmsu.edu and click on the “Registration/Hotel/Travel” link.

3. Topic Identified for Possible PubSIG Professional Development Opportunity

At the PubSIG conference call in February, participants identified editing as a topic for a professional development workshop in 2008. We discussed possible topics such as editing for different media, audiences, and reading levels.

This could be a “super workshop” delivered either as a pre-or post-annual conference workshop or as a stand-alone workshop. Each option would have an effect on the specific date chosen and the cost involved.

All of this is in the very preliminary planning stage, and WE NEED YOU to do two things to help us move forward:

(1) Please answer these questions about putting together an editing workshop and send them to our current chair, Helen White, at h-white@tamu.edu

(2) We need PubSIG members to serve on a planning/steering committee to explore options, put a plan in place, and get things moving along this spring and summer. Please let Helen know if you can serve.

4. New Members
