Marketing SIG Newsletter
Howdy! This is the last Marketing SIG newsletter I'll be sending you
as SIG chair. I've enjoyed the position and appreciate all of you who
participated in online discussions, e-mailed feedback, and volunteered
for miscellaneous tasks and committees. You've made my job easier (and
fun!), and your enthusiasm and energy has really strengthened the SIG.
Thanks! Lynette

New Officers
Thanks to Elizabeth Gregory, Texas A&M University, and Kathy Reiser,
University of Illinois, for graciously volunteering to serve as vice-chair
and vice-chair elect, respectively, for the upcoming year. Along with
Ami Neiberger, University of Florida, serving as chair, I'm confident
these folks will take our SIG to places we haven't even imagined! ________________________________________________________________
SIG Business Meeting
Just a reminder that the Marketing SIG business meeting in Toronto will
be 2:15 p.m. - 3 p.m. Monday, July 30. It doesn't conflict with any
other SIG meeting, so I hope a big portion of our more than 150 SIG
members will attend. The main agenda item: brainstorming topic ideas
and presenters for our Spring 2002 marketing conference. ________________________________________________________________
Yes, I Said Marketing Conference!
Thanks to the 20 or so folks who responded to Ami's plea for committee
volunteers, we now have a conference planning committee. Yeah! We're
looking at scheduling the conference sometime in February or March 2002
in a southern U.S. city that's easy and inexpensive to fly in and out.
Again, thanks to these folks for stepping up to the plate: Mary Ellen
Bell, University of Wisconsin; Rick Bogren, LSU; Wendy Douglass, Colorado
State; Bob Furbee, Kansas State; Danny Gardner, Mississippi State; Dennis
Hinkamp, Utah State; Paul Lee, Oklahoma State; Bill Loftus, University
of Idaho; Ellen Maurer, University of Wisconsin; Dave McAllister, USDA
CSREES/CTDE; Christie Phillips, National 4-H Council; Owen Roberts,
University of Guelph; Linda Sleichter, Kansas State; Charlie Stott,
Virginia Tech; Aimee Viniard-Weideman, University of Minnesota; Carol
Whatley, Auburn University; and Jane Wolf Brown, Purdue University.
If you can't make the brainstorming session in Toronto, please e-mail
your topic and speaker ideas to the committee's listserv at marketingworkshop@www.aceweb.org

Book Titles
I bought these for our Texas A&M Ag Communications library but haven't
had a chance to read them yet, but they sound good:
- Hands-On Social Marketing: A Step-By-Step Guide by Nedra Kline Weinreich
- Value-Added Public Relations: The Secret Weapon of Integrated Marketing
by Thomas L. Harris
If you've read these books or have other books to recommend, please
e-mail your thoughts to the Marketing SIG listserv: ace_mkt_sig@www.aceweb.org
