The Records of the Association for Communication Excellence
The records of the American Association of Agricultural College Editors (AAACE), later renamed
Agricultural Communicators in Education (ACE), and now known as the Association for Communication Excellence in Agriculture,
Natural Resources, and Life and Human Sciences, are now housed in the National Agricultural Library (NAL) in
Beltsville, Md., and span the years 1868-2001. The collection documents ACE's history.
The items in the collection -- which include newsletters, the ACE Quarterly journal, communication handbooks, minutes
of board meetings, annual meeting programs, correspondence, annual directories, photographs and more -- are listed in a
newly published registry
entitled The Records of
Agricultural Communicators in Education (PDF).
ACE wishes to thank William E. Carnahan, who served as ACE Archivist from 1981-2002 and compiled the archives
registry. During his tenure, he also processed and arranged the entire collection into 22 series.
ACE also would like to extend its appreciation to those members who served as archivists over the years: Clara Bailey
Ackerman, who served 1939-1954; Ralph Fulghum, 1954-1975; James H. McCormack, 1975-1980, and Lee Shields, 2003 to the present.
