II. Photography
Eligible photos must have appeared in an article, a publication or series of publications, website, or an exhibit. Submit the published work and/or print(s) of the work. If the published work is not submitted, print the entries on 8 x10 inch or 8.5 x 11 inch sheets. Full-frame, 8-inch x 8-inch or other cropped/masked dimensions are acceptable on the sheet. Entrant's name, address and a caption should be attached to the back of the photo. Creativity, interest, timing and technical quality will be evaluated.
Judging: Technical quality 25%, Creativity/originality 25%, Audience interest/impact 25%, Overall evaluation 25%
Class 7a — Feature photo. A single image that tells a story effectively in one shot.
Class 7b — Environmental portrait or personality photo.
Class 8a — Picture story. Three or more photos used to tell a story.
Class 8b — Photo series. A collection of images that have appeared together but do not necessarily form a narrative.
Class 9 — Service photo. For those pictures that are required as part of the mission of the institution. Examples would be shots of events such as fairs, field days, award presentations, etc.
Class 10 — Photo illustration. For photos made entirely under the photographer's control, including setups, studio still life, and/or pictures extensively manipulated through Photoshop or other software. A copy of the final photo illustration or the final product in which the photo illustration was used may be submitted as the entry.
