Types of Membership
Active
Anyone working in communications or technology related to agriculture, natural resources and life and
human sciences.
Graduate Student
For persons enrolled full-time in master’s or doctoral degree programs.
Retired/Life
For active members who have retired from full-time employment.
Members must be retired as of December 31 of the previous calendar year to
qualify for retired status. Any member eligible for retired member status
and who has at least 10 years of ACE membership may apply for life membership.
Life membership will take effect after a retiree has paid a one-time life member
fee or after he/she has made five annual retired member dues payments.
Charter
Charter status is offered to countries in which budgets and salaries preclude
paying individual dues. A designated representative of a country must apply for
charter status and pay the equivalent annual dues of an active member. The
representative then provides ACE with a list of at least 10 communication and technology
professionals eligible for membership; these persons receive affiliate status.
For additional information about charter memberships, view the charter
membership brochure (PDF format), or visit the Affiliates & Partners section of the site to learn more about current ACE charter affiliates.
Institutional
For members whose dues are paid by an institution, rather than by individuals within that
institution. Members in this classification receive all membership benefits, as
if they were individual members.
