The governing board of ACE includes:
- President, president-elect, vice president and past president
- A director for each of the five U.S. regions and for international members
- A director each for associate and retired members of the organization.
A coordinator serves in an ex officio role as secretary and treasurer. The directors
are elected by the membership of the region or group they represent. They serve as
voting members of the board for two years. Before taking official office, regional
directors and the retirees director serve one year as
directors-elect. Directors-elect are non-voting members of the board during that
year and use that time to gain an understanding of ACE and board activity.
During even-numbered years, the north central, southern, D.C. and international
regions choose directors-elect. During odd-numbered years, the northeastern and
western regions and retired members choose directors-elect.
