Speaker and program fees
To identify speaker costs, you should have an idea of the types of speakers to recruit. A six-hour
classroom hands-on session might be more expensive than several seminars. You may need to pay each
speaker a different honorarium depending on the topic you ask them to present. Decide if you will provide
complimentary meals, lodging, and/or transportation in addition to or instead of an honorarium. Local
speakers may not charge an honorarium and usually won't require transportation and lodging. Instead, you
should offer to provide them meals the day of their presentation and/or present them with a gift. If you plan
to use an off-site classroom or facility such as a computer lab, estimate the costs for transporting
people to the site and the rental fee, and find out if there is an additional fee for staffing the
site (labs frequently require that their own staff run the facility).
