Planning Committee
Once you've decided to host a workshop, select a planning committee and name a leader (or co-leaders). The
leaders oversee the many details of the workshop, including setting up subcommittees to handle registration, the program, marketing and promotion, transportation, and accommodations. Workshop hosts tell us key points include:
- Holding regular meetings or discussions about progress.
- Reviewing other resources for tasks and suggested schedules.
- Planning ahead.
If you don't have experience planning an event, you might consider hiring a local conference planning group or continuing education center to handle some of the activities. Most hotels and meeting sites also have coordinators who can help.
