People who can help
ACE has many resources -- the Professional Development Committee, your state
representative, SIG leaders, your regional director, members of the board, and the coordinator at Headquarters.
Checking with different people will help you develop ideas for a successful workshop. Don't forget to discuss your
ideas with your supervisor, department head and other administrators.
If you're interested in hosting a workshop, contact ACE Headquarters. The Professional Development Committee
and ACE Headquarters will work with you from the beginning to help determine what needs to be done and how best
to assist you. You may choose to plan your workshop with minimal involvement from Headquarters and the committee.
That's fine, too, but remember that support is available if you need it.
You may need up-front money to reserve the meeting site, rooms, and caterers before you collect any registration
fees. Check out these resources:
- ACE Funds. Loans are available from ACE to be
used as seed money for a workshop. You must submit an application to ACE Headquarters. If you borrow
money from ACE funds, you repay the loan with
proceeds from your workshop and divide any profits equally with ACE.
- Local organizations. Local businesses, commodity groups, and professional organizations may be
interested in financially supporting or co-sponsoring a workshop.
- Local institution or agency. Don't forget to ask your own agency or institution for resources.
