This position will coordinate an enhanced Web communications presence for UF/IFAS. The IFAS Web Manager will coordinate the formulation of clear and consistent Web management policies to ensure the quality of Web-delivered information in design, content, and technical aspects; and act as a central point of contact in support of those who contribute to IFAS' overall Web presence.
The IFAS Web Manager will report to the IFAS Assistant Vice President of Information and Communication Services, supervise those on the Web Development Team, and act as ex officio chair of the IFAS Web Management Committee and Information Technology Policy Advisory Council.
The Web Manager will direct and coordinate a unified image and Web presence for IFAS, including current and continual updates of information communicated through the Web. The Web Manager will educate and market the concept of centralized Web management through assistance from the IFAS Computer Coordinators and Information Technology Office staff, as well as IFAS Web staff.
The Web Manager will coordinate the design and layout of Web sites including consultation with the Graphic Design team on the style, layout, and selection of digital art work, Web presentation, and monitoring of aesthetic and graphic standards.
As a Web developer, the Web Manager must have extensive knowledge of Web programming tools for a variety of applications. Working closely with the Information Technology infrastructure and staff, the IFAS Web Manager will recommend appropriate staffing, application development environments, and equipment to support effective use of the Web in support of the IFAS teaching, research, and extension outreach mission.
The Web Manager will be the primary contact for the eXtension program, an Internet-based, customer-centered, virtual, and evolving educational environment, which will provide national land-grant university system information for anyone, anywhere, anytime, on any Internet-ready device, assuring that IFAS Web communications interface with eXtension software and programming.
Preferred Qualifications: At least two years of specific experience in Web design and development. Specific experience with PHP, PERL, or Java Web development environments is highly desirable. Applicants should possess excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated management/leadership is highly desirable.
Salary Range: $50,000-55,000; commensurate with qualifications and experience.
