ACE President 1986-87 Texas A&M University, College Station, TX University of Florida, Gainesville, FL Don Springer was born December 2, 1932, in Pratt County, Kansas. He received a bachelor's degree in animal husbandry in 1957 and a master's degree in technical journalism in 1966, both from Kansas State University. In 1971, he received a doctorate in mass communications from Ohio State University. His professional experience includes positions as assistant agricultural editor, University of Missouri; extension television producer, Kansas State University at Wichita (1962 to 1969); director, department of public information, University of Kentucky (1976 to 1981); and head, department of agricultural communications, Texas A & M University (1981 to 1987). In April 1987, he became chairman of the editorial department at the University of Florida. He retired in February 1992 and moved to College Station, Texas. He was a member of Phi Kappa Phi, Gamma Sigma Delta, Epsilon Sigma Phi and the National Association of Farm Broadcasters. His awards include the ACE Award of Excellence. Springer died at College Station January 4, 1996. He was 63. Back to list of ACE presidents
