ACE President 1962-63 Oklahoma State University Stillwater, OK Edd Lemons was born November 15, 1905, in Indian territory in McClain, Oklahoma. He grew up on a farm near Webbers Falls, Oklahoma, and received degrees in education and journalism before becoming a teacher in the public schools at Webbers Falls. He began as an agricultural editor for the Daily Phoenix and the Times Democrat in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He later joined the Oklahoma Department of Vocational Agriculture as executive secretary of the Future Farmers of America. He retired in the mid-1960s as head of the agricultural information department at Oklahoma State, a position he was appointed to in 1954. In 1966, he received a Superior Service Award from the U. S. Department of Agriculture. He was a director for the Isaak Walton League of America and a member of the Rotary Club. In retirement, he worked for USDA's Foreign Agriculture Service in Japan, Korea and Turkey. He was also a hospital volunteer. He moved to Thousand Oaks, California in 1980, and died there August 8, 1985 at the age of 79. Back to list of ACE presidents
