Jon Greeneisen was born in 1933 in Ohio. He received a bachelor's degree in
agricultural economics in 1955 from Ohio State University and a master's
degree in communications in 1961 from the University of Illinois.
In 1957, he became assistant editor for the University of Illinois College of
Agriculture and was head of the university's agricultural journalism program.
He joined the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Washington, D. C. in 1961 as
head of the information staff of USDA's International Development Service.
In 1965, he was named director of information for the Farm Credit
Administration. He later served as deputy governor for administration and as
secretary to FCA's policymaking body, the Farm Credit Board. Greeneisen moved
to Denver, Colorado in 1978 to become senior vice president of the Central
Bank for Cooperatives. In 1989, he became president of Strategies 2000, Inc., a
consulting firm specializing in international bank consulting and strategic
planning.
In 1990-91, he was president of the Cooperative Communicators Association (CCA).
He received their Klinefelter award in 1991.
