George Church was born April 28, 1902, in Allenville, Wisconsin. He graduated
from the Rio (Wisconsin) high school in 1920. He attended the State Normal
School at Oshkosh, Wisconsin for two years, then went to the University of
Kansas, where he received an A.B. degree in journalism in 1925, and a master's
degree in 1928.
From 1929 to 1930, he was city editor of the Winfield Kansas Daily Courier. He
also worked for other newspapers in Wisconsin and Ohio. In 1930, Church went to
Oklahoma A & M College, now Oklahoma State University, to teach journalism,
edit publications and handle publicity for the university. He was later named
experiment station editor. In 1954, he was named head of publications.
In addition to AAACE, he was a member of Sigma Delta Chi. He died suddenly on
August 11, 1961 at his Stillwater home. He was 59.
