Welcome to the 2010 Association for Communication Excellence Critique & Awards Program! The ACE Critique and Awards program recognizes ACE members and other communicators for excellence in a wide array of professional skills. Entries receive constructive criticism and are evaluated on content, effectiveness, creativity and technical quality. Class judges with acknowledged expertise are identified and selected by the leaders of ACE special interest groups (SIGs). Judges use evaluation forms and class criteria designed and developed by the special interest groups. The major change that you will see this year is the move to online submission, a change which will not only streamline the submission process but also the transmission of materials to judges and of evaluations to participants. Materials can be submitted either by the traditional mailing route or uploaded while submitting the entry form. We recognize that several classes have guidelines that will not lend themselves to digital format, but we anticipate most of them will easily transition over to this new procedure. Over time the SIGs will be rewriting their guidelines to clearly specify recommended submission requirements, but for this first year we are leaving that to your discretion. The only other change to this year’s C&A program is the addition of a new class in Publishing, Class 25a, “Educational Packages.” The entry fee – $35 for ACE members and $85 for non-members – covers judges’ fees, mailing costs, award plaques and certificates, and other program expenses. Non-members may submit an entry and join ACE for the cost of the non-member entry fee alone. If you wish, your $85 can be used to pay first-year membership dues (at the new member rate of $50) plus your Critique and Awards program entry fee at the member rate ($35).
