ACE Philippines, established in 2002, is the second affiliate charter country member of ACE. It was formally
organized in May 2003 when the first ACE Philippines general membership meeting was held to ratify the
organization's constitution and to elect the members of the board of directors. The organization is registered
as a foundation with the Philippines Securities and Exchange Commission. The secretariat is based at the
International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) in Los Baņos, Philippines. The current ACE Philippines president
and charter representative, Roger Barroga of the Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice), was elected
ACE international director-elect in 2004.
The members of ACE Philippines are professional communication practitioners who come from various public
and private organizations including academic institutions, government and public goods agencies, research and
development organizations, and private communication entities. ACE Philippines is undertaking a program of
activities that (a) enhances the professionalism and capabilities of its member-communicators, and (b) supports
the international ACE organization's thrusts and programs, which include a national Critique and Awards program
and an annual inter-institutional communication workshop (ICW) held each May.
